Quite tedious because the script needed some changes and it takes up half the film, that is, 30 minutes just on Detective Nagata’s investigations with witnesses or sources (Natsuko, Mizuhari, etc.), including the description of the suspect wearing a white mask (Mr Sugiami from the Ministry of Agriculture, the .32 calibre. As it progresses, it just repeats itself, only changing from Fukagawa at the beginning to Yoyogi in the next murder without a body, where he abandoned the car.

There is no tension in the plot (and I don’t mean action, but serious mystery), even when the clues lead them to follow the suspect closely to room 304, and the scene where the woman who arrives at the apartment and notices the detective doesn’t make a fuss about it was quite naive.

The suspect nicknamed Koiso escapes and uses a phone from Asakusa. And everything points to Kuroiwa Chizo thanks to John Hilton’s Omega watch. The ending scene is weak. It more or less manages not to be a disaster thanks to the cinematography, but overall it’s not the kind of noir you’d want to see again.
